Why Drinking is Harder in Midlife Than Sobriety
It’s hard to quit drinking and it’s hard to keep drinking.
Getting sober is one of the hardest, if not the hardest things I’ve ever done.
If I had given into the HARD moments of sobriety, you and I wouldn’t be here together. I’ve talked about this many times over the past four years, but I’ve never dedicated *one* episode to what is truly hard about drinking vs. sobriety.
It’s hard to unwind, be social, travel, and be around people who are easier to be around while drinking, not drinking alcohol.
It’s hard to ride cravings out when it feels like all you want to do is drink.
I’ve heard how hard sobriety is from women in midlife when they come to me and say: I don’t think I can do it, or I’ve tried 20x to quit drinking and I always go back - it’s too hard.
I completely understand how you feel if you feel this way, and want to help, so this episode is dedicated to unraveling the truth about why drinking in midlife is harder than sobriety.
